چکیده

We present an agent-based model for studying the societal implications of attitude change theories. Various psychological theories persuasive communication at individual level are implemented as simulation experiments. The allows us to investigate effects contagion and assimilation, motivated cognition, polarity, source credibility, idiosyncratic formation. Simulations show that different produce characteristic macrolevel patterns. Contagion assimilation central mechanisms generating consensus, however, generates a radicalized consensus. Motivated cognition causes polarization or fragmentation attitudes. Polarity credibility have comparatively little effect on distribution discuss how simulations provide bridge between microlevel aggregated studied by sociology. This approach enables new types evidence evaluating theory complement experimental approaches, thus answering calls enhance role coherent formalized in science. Experiments with attitude: attitude displays for teleoperation

0-7803-7952-7/03/$17.00  2003 IEEE. Abstract – Attitude control refers to controlling the pitch and roll of a mobile robot. As environments grow more complex and cues to a robot’s pose sparser it becomes easy for a teleoperator to lose situational awareness. Information from separated attitude displays may be difficult to integrate with an ongoing navigation task and lead to errors. In this pa...

Combined application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and design of experiments (DOE) to hydrodynamic simulation of a coal classifier

Combining the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the design of experiments (DOE) methods, as a mixed approach in modeling was proposed so that to simultaneously benefit from the advantages of both modeling methods. The presented method was validated using a coal hydraulic classifier in an industrial scale. Effects of operating parameters including feed flow rate, solid content and baffle le...

Climate Change Risk Perception in Taiwan: Correlation with Individual and Societal Factors

This study differentiates the risk perception and influencing factors of climate change along the dimensions of global severity and personal threat. Using the 2013 Taiwan Social Change Survey (TSGS) data (N = 2001) as a representative sample of adults from Taiwan, we investigated the influencing factors of the risk perceptions of climate change in these two dimensions (global severity and perso...

To date, the study of societal change in social and political psychology has been dominated by an intergroup relations research agenda. But in addition to intergroup dynamics, there are other major pathways to societal change and emancipation, which are almost never systematically considered in psychological research. The distribution of technologies (e.g., “ICT for development”) or money (e.g....

Exploring the Bermuda Triangle: Review of Gender, Societal, Team and Individual Leadership Theories

The relationship between an individual’s comprehension of his or her role in society, the gender expectations of society, and how these thoughts and stereotypes influence an individual’s behavior in particular settings seem to be separate, yet interrelated. It is for this reason that an analysis of four main theories of gender and leadership must be reviewed for contrasts and comparisons. This ...
